Covernotes

Formerly Books on the Hill, we started with one store on Yonge Street in Richmond Hill in 1999. Since then we have grown with two cafés and a Roastery where we produced our own JP Lindsay brand coffee. But you can still find great used books at Covernotes, both in Richmond Hill and our Newmarket store.

Covernotes Richmond Hill café & bookstore is located in the beautifully restored, historic high school to and adjoining the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts which opened in the Spring of 2010. In addition to our own, locally roasted coffee, we serve exotic loose teas, fresh-baked scones, muffins, sandwiches, and desserts plus a wide selection of hot and cold beverages. Our book room features an extension collection of used, rare and out-of-print books.

We regularly host live acoustic concerts on Monday nights (Acoustic Mondays) which feature an eclectic mix of local musicians. We also host other events such as spoken word poetry nights, book readings and gallery openings. Covernotes aims to promote local artists (from photography, watercolour, and mixed media) — our walls are always changing so come in and see.
