ARTS SCENE

As part of the Ontario Society of Artists' 140th Anniversary celebration in 2012, the OSA has collaborated with the Woodstock Art Gallery and is presenting an exciting exhibition tour of collaborative works by 11 pairs of emerging and experienced artists, called partners: a collaboration. The intent of this collaboration is to fulfil the education mandates of both the Ontario Society of Artists and the Woodstock Art Gallery. The grand opening of the tour will take place at the brand new facility of the Woodstock Art Gallery on Saturday, November 19, at 2 p.m., 449 Dundas St. Woodstock, Ontario. Nov. 12, 2011 - Jan. 14, 2012.
Education had always been a fundamental part of the Ontario Society of Art's philosophy, from its inception in 1872. Through the partners Project, we have fulfilled the OSA's education mandate by offering emerging artists a unique opportunity to begin their professional art careers after completing university and college Art programs. By collaborating with the Woodstock Art Gallery, we hope to provide young artists exposure of their work to public and private galleries across Ontario.
All too often, talented young artists fall by the wayside as they become discouraged because of inadequate support for entering the professional world of art. By placing them in partnership with experienced artists in the OSA, we would like to make their transition into the business world of art easier and more accessible.
