ATTRACTIONS

The Aurora Historical Society promotes the study of the history of our community. The society works toward this and related goals by means of its regular meetings and by the operation of Hillary House.
The Society holds collections of heritage artifacts dating back over 200 years, as well as historical photographs, books and archival documents relating to the history of the town and especially to Hillary House. The collections are used for research, education and to support an understanding of the lives of the families that have lived in Hillary House over the years.
Built in 1862, Hillary House is recognized by the National Historic Sites and Monuments Board as one of Canada's best examples of Gothic Revival architecture. It contains a significant collection of medical instruments, books, papers, household furnishings, and equipment dating from the early nineteenth to the late twentieth century and is open to the public as Hillary House, the Koffler Museum of Medicine. Public visits and tours are available.
