Skating in York Region

Just as much as hockey is part of the Canadian tradition, so too is skating. Skating is a great way to have fun, stay fit, be active, and socialize in the winter months. Public skating is available throughout the whole of winter everywhere in York Region.

Indoor skating is the most reliable as ice conditions are controlled by the arena. Almost every arena offers public skating days and it is just as a matter of calling your local arena to discover your local public skating days. More often than not, public skating occurs on weekends.

Outdoor skating is a more nostalgic option that heralds back to our grandparent’s days. Unfortunately these rinks are less reliable as they are subject to the whims of weather, however, when the ice is in perfect condition, there is nothing better than skating around, breathing in fresh air, and warming yourself up with a cocoa or coffee.
